Ad Peter­sen was a cura­tor at the Stede­li­jk Muse­um in Ams­ter­dam from 1960 to 1990. The pho­to­graphs in this book reflect his per­so­nal view on art and artists. His invol­ve­ment with their work often led to per­so­nal con­ta­cts and friendships with artists, adding a sen­se of inti­ma­cy to the douc­men­ta­ry value of the photographs.
